Elementary School Counselor
Under the direction of the principal, provide behavioral and educational counseling to individuals and small groups of students; assist students in understanding and seeking solutions to social, emotional, or academic problems and issues; serve as a resource pertaining to student behavior management strategies, and welfare and attendance problems and concerns; and other related functions as required. Exemplifies the Christian philosophy of the St. John’s Lutheran Church mission statement in all aspects of day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
SCHEDULE: FULL-TIME – 40 hours/week – 10 months/year
SALARY RANGE: $70,000-$75,000 DOE
Responsibilities Include:
- Demonstrates values and attributes in connection with the faith being taught, including but not limited to, unconditional love for all people, industrious, being consistent in prayer.
- Encourages family involvement and responsibility in assisting students to develop their maximum potential and spiritual growth.
- Provides social and emotional adjustment counseling and crisis intervention. Assists teachers and parents in their functions in the counseling process.
- Provide individual counseling and group guidance to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, and family concerns.
